HelpAge India advocates for the inclusion of concerns and rights of senior citizens in the policies of the Central & State governments. To this end, it works with all stakeholders ranging from civil society, the judiciary, legislators and the governments both at the Centre and State level.

HelpAge voices elder concerns, such as their right to universal pension, quality and affordable healthcare, action against elder abuse and many more at a national, state and societal level. The aim is to ensure that elders have access to basic services that help their economic, health and social needs ensuring their overall wellbeing to live an active and dignified life.

It has been a key contributor in the promulgation of the formulation of the ‘National Policy for Senior Citizens, 1999’ and the review of ‘The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
